Eggshell membrane for skin

Early trials of other brands; none of this one.

Xtendlife’s Derma Lift capsules include OVOLUX eggshell membrane, the thin layer inside an egg’s shell, “to help support skin elasticity from within.” Short answer: two placebo-controlled trials of other eggshell-membrane products found skin looked or measured better after 8–12 weeks, but neither named one main outcome, so the evidence is early. We found no study of Derma Lift or of OVOLUX.

What the research shows

Grades are calculated from the studies listed, by fixed rules.

  • Eggshell membrane taken by mouth improves skin elasticity and appearanceEarly evidence

Two placebo-controlled trials reported better skin after 8–12 weeks: one on wrinkles and tone in photos, one on firmness and elasticity measured with a device. Neither named one main outcome, and the second does not say it was blinded, so this is early evidence.

We found no study of Derma Lift or of OVOLUX on PubMed. The trials above used other eggshell-membrane products at 300 and 450 mg a day; the ad does not say how much Derma Lift contains.
